The two-week long filming of ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ has started on Monday the 20th of February and should end on the 6th of March 2017.

‘Robin Hood: Origins’ is directed by Otto Bathurst and produced by the Oscar winning Leonardo DiCaprio who chose Dubrovnik among ten other cities across the world, as the set for Robin Hood’s Nottingham, as it provides the perfect atmosphere for the movie, and is simply breath-taking.

Around one thousand film crew members arrived to Dubrovnik from Hollywood to ensure the creation of a masterpiece. They have transformed some of the city’s iconic landmarks into the 13th century Nottingham. The old port bellow the for Revelin and facades of the first row of houses along Stradun, the Old Town’s main street, now resemble a living and breathing 13th century English village.

The filming of ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ has brought movie stars from the red carpet of Hollywood to the centuries old white stone of Stradun, Dubrovnik. Along with the producer, Leonardo DiCaprio, many famous names are being seen on the Dubrovnik filming set, such as:

-Robin Hood – Tarnon Egerton known from British television series ‘The Smoke’ and the movie ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’

-Little John – Jamie Foxx, Oscar winning actor known by his roles at ‘Django Unchained’, ‘Ray’ and many more

-Will Scarlet – Jamie Dornan known for the lead role in ’50 Shades of Grey’

-Sheriff of Nottingham – Ben Mendelsohn known from the latest Star Wars movie ‘Rogue One’

Dubrovnik has already served as the filming set for the King’s Landing in ‘Game of Thrones’, and it appeared in ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ prior to become a scene for ‘Robin Hood’. With three big movie names under its belt Dubrovnik is looking at a bright future in movie industry and the rumor has it that Mr DiCaprio plans to film a trilogy.
